Make and Take Book Tools for Building Communication
In this training, participants will learn about early childhood literacy milestones. The milestone knowledge will be used to develop props and extension activities for books that they use in their settings. Participants will be provided with a variety of materials for prop creation to use during storytelling that will engage young children. Participants will present their resources and activities with the group for everyone to benefit!

Yes, You Can! Help Children with Speech Development in the ECE Setting
Participants will engage in this workshop designed by Trish Friedlander, Speech and Language Pathologist, a.k.a. "SpeechieTrish" to help early childhood professionals understand communication delays. The trainer provides resources to explain speech sound disorders, communication development milestones, and strategies to help boost children's communication. Participants are expected to reflect upon the children they serve, apply the strategies presented to routines in the day, and share the challenges faced with children with speech delays.

Apply ideas to encourage a language-rich environment and build communication skills within that setting! Participants will differentiate between speech and language, and Identify receptive and expressive language milestones.

Speech and Language Made Simple: Milestones and What to Watch for & Using Visuals to Support Communication
In this 2-hour, in-person workshop, participants will learn about what sounds children should have and what expressive and receptive language skills children should have by specific age ranges. We will discuss what to watch for in the classroom and when to refer to a speech-language pathologist. The second half of the session will highlight how to create and implement visuals to assist in the classroom. This workshop is intended for regular education teachers and assistants in the age 2-5 settings.
